Lagos pays 301 Public Service retirees

The Lagos State Government has released the sum of N1.075billion Naira in November into the Retirement Savings Accounts of 301 Contributory Pension Scheme retirees including former staff of Local Governments and the State Universal Basic Education Board.

The Commissioner for Establishments, Training and Pensions, Dr. Akintola Benson Oke who conducted the 45th Retirement Benefit Bond Certificate Presentation Ceremony in Ikeja on Wednesday thanked the retirees for their services which has resulted in a better Lagos.

He stated that in recognition of the selfless service rendered by the retirees, the government is in the process of providing Pensioner’s ID cards that will enable them to enjoy some benefits which they would have hitherto paid for.

Akintola said this administration, through Lagos State Pension Commission (LASPEC), has been able to disburse more than N32 billion in form of accrued pension rights to 7,976 retirees between August 2015 and November 2017.

The Director-General, LASPEC, Mrs. Folashade Onanuga who also spoke at the event enlightened the retirees on the importance of healthy living as requisite for a stress-free life in retirement.

The pensioners at the ceremony expressed gratitude to Lagos State Government and were unanimous in praising the staff of the Commission for their diligence while urging them to keep up the good work.
