THE Chief of Defence Staff, CDS, General Aboyomi Gabriel Olorinshakin has advised the Niger Delta Avengers to sheath their swords as their action is unconstitutional and inimical to the growth and development of the nation.

According to him, the demand for human right by violence is uncalled for, unconstitutional, null and void. General Olorinshakin who made the remark while commissioning 20-gun boats, purchased by the Nigerian Navy in Warri, Delta State, commended the Navy for its avowed commitment in tackling vices in the nation’s territorial waters.

He lamented that the country is faced with a lot of challenges, following numerous threats in the nation’s maritime sector and the environment.

“These threats pose a lot of dangers especially the recent threat by the Niger Delta Avengers to resume hostilities and this threat rather cast unfortunate doom on the Niger Delta region”, stressed the Chief of Defence Staff. According to him, the induction of the gunboats was in line with our preparedness to ward off any internal and external aggression, adding, “it is my sincere hope that the Nigerian Navy will further increase her efforts in the fight against criminal activities”.

He commended President Muhammadu Buhari for his support for the military, adding that the military will not disappoint him.
