THE Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) in Ogun on Tuesday warned motorists at Owode-Ijako to desist from driving against traffic in order not to face the wrath of the law.
Adekunle Ajibade, the Sango-Ota Zonal Commander of TRACE, gave the warning in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ota, Ogun.
He spoke ahead of the opening of a new unit of TRACE at Owode-Ijako.
NAN reports that the new unit of TRACE would be officially inaugurated on Jan. 18 by Seni Ogunyemi, the Executive Director of TRACE.
Ajibade said the traffic challenge in the area needed urgent attention in order to check the excesses of motorists who usually defy government directives due to the absence of traffic officials.
“We have decided to open a unit around Owode-Ijako to bring sanity to the area so that lives and property can be safe, “he said.
Ajibade also said that TRACE would be working for 24 hours in collaboration with others sister security agencies at the Owode-Ijako unit.
“The Owode-Ijako TRACE unit is scheduled to be officially opened next week and it is believed that this will restore sanity in the area as far as traffic regulations are concerned.
“I urge all road users to desist from flouting traffic regulations such as driving against the traffic and illegal parking among others.
“They should avoid haphazard parking now that the state government is embarking on reconstruction of the road and also ensure use of seat belt while driving, ” he said. (NAN).
