13th batch of Nigerian evacuees arrive Abuja, as total reaches 2,544

Another batch of 123 stranded Nigerians evacuated from Port Sudan arrived at the Pilgrims Wing of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA), Abuja, Thursday afternoon.

The evacuees from war-stricken Sudan arrived at 12:25pm, Thursday, and were received by on behalf of the Federal Government by a team led by National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

Director General of NEMA, Mustapha Habib Ahmed, who was represented by the Director Special Duties Dr Onimode Abdullahi Bandele welcomed the returnees and informed them of arrangements that have been made to ensure their safe returns in dignity.

According to NEMA, these include; engagement of domestic airlines to airlift them to their respective destinations, feeding, provision of token by Dangote Foundation, psycho-social assistance and accommodation for those in need, among others.

Habib also told them how President Muhammadu Buhari was concerned about their plights in approving for their evacuation back home.

This is the 13th flight and brings the total number of the evacuees to 2544.
