2022 FIFA WCQ: Nigeria beat Liberia 2:0 to top Group C
Nigeria’s Super Eagles defeated Liberia’s Lone Star courtesy of Leicester City FC forward, Kelechi Iheanacho’s two goals at the 2022 World Cup Africa Qualifier played at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, in Surulere, Friday evening.

Super Eagles opened scoring in the 23rd minute through Iheanacho who combined in a fast corner kick with Alex Iwobi before firing past goalkeeper Williams. Iheanacho made sure that Nigeria took a 2-goal lead into the dressing room after the first half break as he fired the second goal in the 45th minute.

The win means Nigeria now sit atop of Group C with the maximum there points following the 1:1 draw recorded in the earlier match between Cape Verde and Central African Republic (CAR).
Nigeria now top Group C in the Africa qualifier.
The Super Eagles will travel to the island of Mindelo to battle the Blue Sharks of Cape Verde on Day 2 of the series on September 7.
Friday’s match played at the Teslim Balogun Stadium was closed to the general public as tickets were reserved for invites only.
