2023: APC strategises to take over Enugu, produces sole governorship aspirant
The All Progressives Congress has said that only one aspirant purchased its nomination and expression of interest forms for the governorship position in Enugu State in 2023.
Before the close of sales and submission of forms of the party on May 13, a total of 38 aspirants had bought forms for the state House of Assembly seats.
This was aside others who purchased the party’s forms for Senate and House of Representative positions in the state.
The state APC Chairman, Chief Ugochukwu Agballah, told NAN in Enugu on Saturday that the number of those who bought the party’s forms for various positions was a clear indication that it would do well in the 2023 elections.
Agballah noted that the APC governorship aspirant, Uche Nnaji, was competent and prepared to enthrone good governance, which, he said, was lacking with the ruling Peoples Democratic Party in the state.
He added that those canvassing for political positions were qualified to become the standard bearers of the party, stressing that APC would provide level-playing ground for all of them.
The chairman reiterated that the party was well-prepared to take over leadership positions in the state, including occupying the Lion Building (Government House).
According to him, the era of “selectocracy” and “godfatherism” will be a thing of the past if the party is elected into power in 2023.
Reacting, Special Adviser on Media to the APC Chairman, Ken Ofoma, said that political gladiators in the state had been enthusiastic in picking the party’s forms.
Ofoma said: “They are all upbeat and ready to break the political hegemony of PDP in the state.
“Our people are clamouring for APC to come and take over the governance in the state, as they are tired of PDP and its lack of performance, especially in the last seven years.
“The party chairman is working round the clock to ensure that APC takes over the political and governance landscape of the state, come 2023.” (NAN)
