State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Elizabeth Agwu, who raised the doubts during a meeting with stakeholders at its Secretariat in Awka, the state capital, also said the purpose of the meeting was about voter education and a review of the security situation in the state prior to the general elections next year.
During the meeting some stakeholders reported that some yet-to-be-identified assailants set ablaze buildings belonging to prominent individuals in the area, including that of a monarch, few days ago.
Remarking, President-General, Osumoghu Community in Nnewi South Local Government Area, Dennis Muomaife, who was at the stakeholders’ meeting informed the participants that two of his buildings were burnt two weeks ago by unknown persons.
