2023: I’m in race to win, -Chukwuma Odii
Chinedu Nwafor, Abakaliki
The Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State for the 2023 election, Dr Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, has debunked the insinuation in some quarters that he is working for someone to achieve a predetermined outcome in the upcoming governorship race in the State, saying he is in the race to win.
Odii who described the insinuation as a mere propaganda fabricated by his political opponents, urged the people to ignore it.
He stated this, on Tuesday, in a chat with Journalists at the occasion of the 25 years anniversary celebration and dedication of Emmanuel Anglican Church Building, in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State capital.
According to him, nobody except God is behind him, saying, he has all it takes to win the governorship election.
Odii said his opponents were scared of standing the election with him.
He said the election would be won and lost not through propaganda but by the antecedents, capacity and competence of the contestants.
Odii said: “The season we are, is a season of propaganda and rumor. You should know no that nobody is behind me, and nobody shall be behind my governorship ambition, except God. It’s only God that’s behind my governorship ambition. It’s only God that made me to come out for this race and I know, I have all it takes work for my people and make Ebonyi one of the best states in Nigeria. That’s why I’m in the race.
“So, alot of gossips will come from my opponents who are scared of Anyichucks. I don’t know why they are scared of Anyichucks? But this election is going be about competence and capacity to deliver dividends of democracy to the people. Ebonyi people are looking for a peace loving person to be their Governor. They will vote based on the antecedents of all the governorship contestants.”
Odii who further disclosed the seaming delay in his camp was that he was trying to reconcile aggrieved party stakeholders, assured that soon, he would kick-off fully.
“We deemed it necessary to reconcile with few party members and stakeholders who were aggrieved before we kick-off our campaign, because I’m a peaceful loving person, and I believe that charity begins at home. We have all it takes to win the election, but we wouldn’t want to win the election without involving all our people and that’s what I have been doing that appears to have slowed our campaign.
“I can’t constitute campaign council without involving all the stakeholders, because doing so, amounts to sidelining them. And I don’t want to sideline any person. What I have been doing is to ensure all of them are involved and very soon, you will see us kickoff our campaign,” he concluded.
