2023: Labour vows to take over Abia
From Boniface Okoro, Umuahia
The Labour Party (LP) has expressed optimism that the party would upstage the three major political parties in Abia State and grab power in 2023.
Chairman of Abia State chapter of Labour Party, Ceekay Igara, who stated this while addressing delegates shortly after the State Congress of the party and inauguration of the newly elected State Executive in Umuahia on Sunday, said he was optimistic about LP victory in Abia in 2023 because God has sanctioned it, adding that Abians were tired of the three major parties in the state: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), All Progressives Congress (APC) and All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
According to Igara, Labour Party in Abia was a “government in waiting.”
“We are going to occupy Government House by May 2023. It is not whether you agree or not. The truth is everything favours Labour Party and I assure you, after our primaries, you will see different things. These Egyptians you see today, you will not see them again.
“We have suffered so much in Abia State. And if you do the kind of sampling we do, you will know that people are tired of these major parties: the PDP, the APC, the APGA.
“When we brought this present government into power, because we were part of the people that helped them in; God told us and them that this is the time for Labour Party to come and they are aware,” he said.
He therefore charged Labour Party faithful to be steadfast in playing their roles of growing the party and working hard to actualize their envisaged victory at the polls next year.
“Just man your own position, make sure you do your own, leave for us the ones we will do; leave the ones God will do. As far as I am concerned, we are just the Government in waiting. Nothing will stop it,” Igara added.
The congress ended peacefully.
