2023: Obi, Datti visit ex-Pres. Obasanjo
Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Dr Peter Obi and his Vice Presidential running mate in the 2023 General Elections, Dr Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, weekend, paid a scheduled visit to former Head of State, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, as part of consultations over their political ambitions.
A Facebook post by Datti Baba-Ahmed, late Sunday, confirmed the meeting, even as the official details were not made available.
Obi and Datti Baba-Ahmed visited former President Obasanjo in his presidential library, Abeokuta, on Sunday, July 17.
It would also be recalled that last week, Dr Obi had stormed the home of Chairman of the Northern Elders Forum (NEF), Prof. Ango Abdullahi, in Kaduna State, also as part of wide consultations with the country’s stakeholders.
Datti captioned the photos: “His Excellency, Mr Peter Obi and my humble self Sen. Yusuf Datti Ahmed paid a courtesy visit to the Former President and Elder statesman, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo.”
After the meeting, Obasanjo shared a picture of himself with Peter Obi and Datti Baba-Ahmed with the caption: ”Nigeria on the path to revitalisation”.
The visit to Obasanjo comes amid allegations by the Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in the 2023 General Elections, and rights activist, Mr Omoyele Sowore, accusing Obi of being backed by the country’s former leaders, like, Obasanjo, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, Abdusalami Abubakar, and others.
