2023: ‘Obi most qualified to lead Nigeria’ – Afe Babalola
Foremost educationist, Chief Afe Babalola has declared that the candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 Presidential poll, Dr Peter Obi, remains the most qualified to lead the country, among all the other top contenders running for the office of the President, this February.
Speaking ahead of the 60th anniversary of his call to the bar, the Founder and Chancellor of the Afe Babalola University in Ado Ekiti, further claimed that only those responsible for the country’s current state of underdevelopment are opposed to the candidacy of Peter Obi.
According to Chief Babalola, he and Obi ‘share a passion for high-quality education.’
The educationist also disclosed that it was for this reason that he had invited the LP candidate to the celebration of the 60th anniversary of his call to the Nigerian Bar.
“Unless you are part of the old system that has brought us to where we are, there is no way you will oppose a young man like Mr. Peter Obi, an untainted, young, educated man with ideas from being the president of Nigeria.
“We have a common ground, and that common ground is that he will give education a rightful place in his administration. Unlike all of you, I never had a conventional education, I never went to secondary school or university but due to determination and courage, I endured. I studied privately through correspondence and obtained my A Level by correspondence, passing the entrance into university by correspondence.
“But without education, I would not be where I am today and that is why by the grace of God after a successful practice, I am what I am today. I will celebrate 60 years of my call to Bar this year and by the grace of god, peter obi will be there. He is the most qualified to lead this country,” Chief Babalola said.
The latest endorsement of Obi comes barely days after former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, in his approval of Obi, described the latter as ‘having an edge’ over other candidates ahead of the 2023 presidential poll.
Similarly, chieftains of notable geo-politically-based political and cultural groups, including Chief Ayo Adebanjo of the Afenifere and Chief Edwin Clark of the Niger Delta Nation have also endorsed Obi for the position, in recent days.
