2023: Peter Obi wins global poll conducted by diaspora group
Peter Obi of the Labour Party emerged the winner of a global poll organized by the Global Coalition for Security and Democracy in Nigeria, GCSDN, on Sunday 23 October 2022.
Results of the poll which was organized by members of GCSDN in 40 countries and 26 Nigerian states shows that Obi floored the other 17 candidates after securing 9,654 votes which represented 65% of votes cast. Abubakar Atiku of the PDP came second with 1,944 votes representing 13% of votes cast.
Omoyele Stephen Sowore came third with 1,801 votes (12%) while Ahmed Tinubu of the APC came fourth with 981 votes (7%).
The maiden edition of the global online poll was won by Omoyele Sowore in 2018.
Chairman of the electoral committee Mr Fafore Adebowale thanked the participants for their zeal for a new Nigeria. Other members of the committee are Dr Marvellous Chisom, Engr Funmilayo Odunowo and Vionna Hamases.
By this result, members of the GCSDN will commence immediate support for Peter Obi by campaigning for him in the coming elections of 2023.
The Global Coordinator of GCSDN, Frederick Odorige, has urged all members, home and abroad, to do everything peacefully and legally possible to ensure that we take Nigeria back by voting for Peter Obi. “The time has come for us to vote competent candidates with or without affiliation to political parties; we must rescue Nigeria now.”
