2023 presidency: Nominate a Northerner, fail woefully, Ohanaeze cautions PDP

Ohanaeze Ndigbo has cautioned the People Democratic Party (PDP) over its resolution to throw the 2023 presidential ticket of the party open, warning that the PDP would fail woefully if it chose a northern presidential candidate.
Ohanaeze said the position of Southern and Middle Belt Leadership Forum, the Southern Governors Forum and indeed all the right thinking patriotic Nigerians, had been that a northern must not handover to another northern as the President of Nigeria in 2023, warning that the PDP must not fail the people.
The National Publicity Secretary of Ohanaeze, Dr Chiedozie Alex Ogbonnia, who stated this while reacting to the outcome of the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of PDP held in Abuja, on Wednesday night, where the party resolved to throw its presidential ticket open to all regions of the country, said, “The PDP has a choice to make; nominate a Northerner and fail woefully and be buried with an epitaph.”
The Ohanaeze spokesman said, “With respect to the resolution by the PDP: the position of the Southern and Middle Belt Leadership Forum, the Southern Governors Forum and indeed all the right thinking patriotic Nigerians is very clear: a Northerner must not hand over to a Northerner.
“The PDP has a choice to make; nominate a Northerner and fail woefully and be buried with an epitaph.
“There once existed a treacherous political party which changed its goal post at the middle of the game. It’s possible that Sen Iyorcha Ayu needed to throw the sale of the presidential forms open to fit into the current bourgeois democratic paradigm.
“That’s why the PDP resolution with respect to the zoning of presidential ticket added that consensus is not ruled out. To this end, the Igbo will soon challenge the PDP with our consensus candidate.
“This project of a Nigerian President of South East extraction is a desideratum; no going back, a to be or not to be existentialism.
“Be reminded that just as God provided a David with a stone to kill Goliath, that God has not changed. This is a just cause and the David will surely come, how, I don’t know, but come, he must.
“And to the Igbo that run after presidential aspirants from other geopolitical zones, I will only add that history is replete with how a betrayer ends”
