From Aniekan Aniekan, Calabar
The Manager of the Calabar Port, Olumati Festus says 209 vessels berthed at the Calabar Port in 2023.
The Port Manager said this is a very high figure compared to the previous year and attributed this to improved marketing strategy by the management.

According to the Port Manager, “Last year, Calabar Port recorded a high number of vessel call.

“Comparatively with 2022, last year was higher in terms of vessel call and cargo.
“This is attributed to massive aggression, an increase in our marketing strategy, the Port improved by our going round to talk to importers to make use of the port”, he said.
He also disclosed that the notion that Calabar Port is not working is just internal as it is only within the state that you hear it but outside the state you will not hear that
He promised to work with the NUJ in the state to gradually erase that notion.
He added that there are no issues and challenges within the port as the management has been carrying our the port activities the way it is expected.
