24hrs to exit, Gov. Lalong appoints new HoS in Plateau
With barely 24 hours to his exit from office after eight years in office on May 29, Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau has appointed Mrs Rauta Dakok as the state’s new Head of Service (HoS).
The appointment was announced on Saturday via a statement issued by the Director of Press and Public Affairs, Dr Makut Macham, in Jos, the State capital.
According to him, Dakok is to take over from Mr Sunday Hyat who has retired from service, having reached the retirement age and having also served a four-month extension granted him by the governor.
Gov Lalong who was the Director General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Bola Tinubu/Kashim Shettima Presidential Campaign Organisation for the 2023 General Elections, failed to secure his state for his party, as the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the March 11 governorship election, Caleb Mutfwang was announced winner and governor-elect.
Until her appointment, Dakok was the Permanent Secretary (General Administration) in the Office of the Head of Service.
“A graduate of Law from the University of Jos in 1988, Dakok started work with the Plateau State Government in 1990 as State Counsel.
“She rose steadily, holding various positions to reach the peak of the civil service where she served as Permanent Secretary in various ministries,” the statement read.
