340 women comb Abia to swing votes for Ikonne, PDP

About 340 Abia women, under the auspices of Ugonmuta Women Movement, Abia State, have vowed to mobilize other women from the 17 local government areas of the state to work for the victory of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Prof. Uche Ikonne, and other candidates of the party in the forthcoming general elections.
The Ugonmuta women Movement made vow during the inauguration of the Movement at the Ministry of Women Affairs premises in Umuahia. At the inauguration, members of the group committed to their mandate of ensuring the victory of all PDP candidates in the 2023 elections.
President of the group, Lady Uloma Hally Onuoha, explained that the group came into being because of the need for women to prove their mettle as major stakeholders in swinging victory votes.
Describing women as the foot soldiers who, to a large extent, decide who mounts the saddle of leadership in different positions of authority in Nigeria, Lady Onuoha added that the group would champion the course of having women foot soldiers in all the electoral wards of the state; as well as play active roles in the forthcoming election.
Also speaking, the Secretary Ugonmuta women Movement and the immediate-past Commissioner for Women Affairs, Chief Mrs. Ukachi Constance Amala, pointed out that Abia women were poised and meticulously working towards being major players in the administration that would come after the 2023 polls, adding that the group which was formed in September 2022, has the mandate of supporting all the candidates of the PDP, with particular emphasis on the party’s gubernatorial candidate, Professor Uche Ikonne.
Wife of the Governor, Dr. Mrs. Nkechi Ikpeazu, represented by the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs. Joy Rose Urenta, while Lady Joyce Adiele represented the wife of the PDP Guber candidate, Lady Uzoamaka Uche Ikonne, during the event; just the PDP Deputy Gubernatorial Candidate, Barrister Okey Igwe was also represented by Abia state Commissioner for Strategic Communication and Documentation, Ugochukwu Emezue.
