4 die, one injured in violent attack on Abia community

Four dead bodies have been confirmed, as as properties were destroyed in the aftermath of violence which engulfed the rural Amangwu Ohafia community in Ohaifia Local Government of Abia State erupted, last Monday
This is also as doctors at the Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia, are still battling to save the life of the only survivor in the deadly attack.
Special Assistant to the Executive Chairman of Ohafia Local Government on New Media and Communication, Prosper Onuoha, who disclosed the incident through a terse statement Wednesday, was silent on where the attack took place or the aggressors.
Rather Onuoha said that the Executive chairman of Ohafia Local Government, Dr Okorafor Ukiwe, swung into action immediately to stop the incident from escalating; adding that in a bid to get to the root cause of the violence, has set up a committee to investigate the Amangwu Ohafia community.
The Committee was charged with the responsibility of unraveling the identities of the attackers, as well as the immediate and remote causes of the incident in community which led to loss of four lives and destruction of properties.
The statement added that the Committee was inaugurated at the end of an emergency security meeting held Wednesday at the Council headquarters, Ebem, Ohafia.
According to Onuoha, Ukiwe condemned the dastardly act in strong terms and called on the traditional rulers and youth bodies in Ohafia to be vigilant and assist security agents to fish out hoodlums and criminals causing mayhem and disturbing the peace of the local government.
The Chairman, the statement added, during a visit to the only survivor of the attack at the Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia, sympathised with the families of the deceased and promised that the Council will ensure everything was done for the quick recovery of the victim.
Amangwu Ohafia, sources said, have been in the throes of insecurity since some hoodlums invaded the community last year and razed down the house of a prominent politician from the area popularly called Isibumba.
Youths of the community were alleged to have had skirmishes with the military last year also.
