TotalEnergies rebrands Nigerian affiliates

TotalEnergies has modified the corporate identity of all its local affiliates in Nigeria to reflect the new image and diversified energy portfolios as the French oil multinational takes a greener path to development of energy with minimal carbon footprints.
The company which hosted a virtual meeting with industry reporters Thursday also stated that its new low carbon approach to energy production would guide its business partnerships going forward, adding however that it currently flows in sync with its upstream partners in Nigeria.
The Oracle Today reports that Total recently transformed to TotalEnergies as most oil companies in the world signed up to climate action to cut global greenhouse gas emissions and migrate applications that depend on finite fossil energy to greener and renewable options.
Deputy Managing Director, Deepwater District, Mr. Victor Bandele, told media representatives that Total E&P Nigeria Limited would now be known as TotalEnergies EP Nigeria Limited, and that Total Upstream Nigeria Limited has become TotalEnergies Upstream Nigeria Limited.
The changes in name and signage of the company would now define new business processes for the company’s operations in the country which, according to him, have drastically cut flare gas and monetized increasing volumes through the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Limited in which it is also an investor.
Mr. Bandele also stated that with the development, all the company’s communication and signage would now reflect the new logo and names as applicable.
“TotalEnergies mission is to produce and supply energy. TotalEnergies wants to meet the challenge of the 21st century and play an active role in the transformation that is underway in the energy industry, by remaking itself and becoming a broad energy company. Total has become TotalEnergies, a company that is expanding in the production, transportation, trading and distribution of responsible energies to the end customer, in the belief that this integrated broad-energy strategy will constitute a value-creating competitive advantage for all of its stakeholders in the long term, and thereby ensure the company’s future health,” he explained.
He aligned the name change with the company’s strategic diversification of investments across oil through Natural Gas, Electricity, Hydrogen, Biomass, Wind, and Solar
He stated that TotalEnergies has for over 60 years been active in the entire Nigerian petroleum value chain and remains very passionate about the environment by maintaining profitable and resilient business operations.
On the company’s flare reduction and gas development programmes in Nigeria, Mr Bandele noted that “all our projects since 1999 are designed with zero gas flare target. We intend to eliminate routine gas flare in all our operations by 2030.”
He pointed at the OFON 2 project which earned over $1.0 million for Nigeria through the sale of carbon credit from the gas flare reduction.
TotalEnergies restated its willingness to work with the government and other stakeholders in the industry to improve the lives of Nigerians.
In pointing at the company’s operations excellence in Nigeria, Country Communication Manger, Dr. Charles Ebereonwu disclosed that the company’s Egina won the Distinguished Achievement Award at the 2021 Offshore Technology Conference in Houston, Texas, USA.
