Real Madrid table improved €170m for Mbappe, deal set to be signed Friday
Following the tabling of an improved bid of €170 million plus €10 million in bonuses by Real Madrid for the want-away Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe, a deal is set be announced by both clubs before end of Friday.
According to Madrid’s reliable transfer expert, the Spanish giants have now offered a much-improved bid for the France International which leaves Paris Saint-Germain with no choice but to accept, considering the player in question is totally committed to joining Real Madrid this transfer window or still join them for free next window.
Worse still Mbappe is free to sign a pre-contract agreement with Real Madrid in four months’ time with PSG getting nothing from their €145 million investment representing the amount they paid to Monaco for his services.
The official announcement of the transfer could follow on Friday, August 27 as all parties consider the deal ‘done’.
Mbappe arrived at Parc des Princes from Monaco back in 2017 in a move worth €145m. Since then, he’s played 174 matches for PSG, recording 133 goals and 63 assists.
If everything goes well, Mbappe is expected to join Carlo Ancelotti’s squad for the last game before the international break.
On Thursday, Paris Saint-Germain rejected an offer of £137m officially tabled for Mbappe by Real Madrid with less than a week to the end of the Summer transfer window.
Real Madrid had officially tabled a £137m offer to PSG for Mbappe even as they believe they can secure the player for free in the next four months.
However, PSG have rejected the Madrid offer, insisting they will only accept an offer that suits their own conditions.
PSG Sporting Director, Leonardo while confirming that Mbappe wants to leave the club, insists he has vowed not to leave on a free transfer.
‘Kylian Mbappé wants to leave, that seems clear… If he wants to leave, we will not stop him, but on our terms,’ he told reporters.
“We said NO to Madrid’s first offer, but if our conditions are met, we’ll see.”
PSG are willing to cash in on their goal machine, but only if their £180m valuation is met.
“Real Madrid official offer is very far from what we want for Kyilian. Yes, it’s around €160m. It’s less than what we paid for him in 2017”
“We have no plans to talk to Real again for Mbappé. The deadline is August 31 at midnight.
“This is how the transfer window is: we keep him and we extend. But we’re not going to let him go for less than what we paid when we still owe Monaco money.”
PSG have also made offers of their own to Mbappe, though the Frenchman recently rejected PSG’s offer of a new bumper deal.
Leonardo said: “We made two important offers to Mbappé: one for the top players in the squad two months ago and one above these players very recently.
“We want to prove to him that he is an important player, at the centre of the project, but not above the project.”
Earlier, Wednesday, PSG rejected an offer from Real Madrid for Mbappé, the French club’s Sporting Director Leonardo said the offer was “not sufficient”.
Spanish and French media had reported on Tuesday that Real Madrid had made a €160m (£137m) bid for the 22-year-old World Cup winner who scored 42 goals in all competitions for PSG last season and has reportedly said he wants to move to Spain.
Leonardo said that PSG, who have just signed the Argentina forward Lionel Messi from Barcelona, did not plan to discuss the Mbappé matter again with Real Madrid and that if Mbappé wanted to leave he would have to do so on PSG’s terms.
“Kylian Mbappé feels like leaving, this seems clear to me … Our goal is to extend and keep him. If a player wants to leave it must be under our terms. This applies not just to Kylian but to all players.”
