PenCom commences online verification, enrollment for 2021 retirees from Sept 1

The National Pension Commission (PenCom) is about  to commence online verification and enrolment for its 2021 retirees and prospective retirees of Federal Government Treasury-Funded Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

This follows the development of an online application automation programme by the commission for the annual pre-retirement verification and enrollment for all its retirees.

This information  is contained in a statement issued by the Head, Corporate Communications of PenCom, Mr Peter Aghahowa, and made available to newsmen on Monday in Abuja.

The statement   said that the application would take effect from September 1, 2021, pointing  out that those eligible for the exercise are employees of federal government treasury-funded MDAs who retired between January and August.

It however noted that employees of the federal government treasury-funded MDAs who were due to retire from September and those who missed the enrolment exercise in previous years would also be included.

Aghahowa listed the two options for the enrollment exercise to include: self-assisted through pension desk officers or Pension Fund Administrators (PFAs)-assisted,  adding  that the affected retirees must complete their verification and enrollment with their respective PFAs on or before Oct. 29.

 PenCom had earlier in August  announced through a circular that it has created an online program that will automate the Annual Pre-Retirement Verification and Enrolment exercise.

Prospective retirees of Treasury-funded Federal Government MDAs can register, verify, and enrol in the application.

The Commission said that it will conduct a pilot run of the online enrolment program from August 2 to August 20, 2021, with chosen MDAs in the six geopolitical zones and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to test-run the application with real-time data as a precursor to its full deployment.

Introducing the Online Enrolment Exercise

The National Pension Commission (PenCom) has developed an online application which automates the Annual

Pre-Retirement Verification and Enrolment Exercise for retirees/ prospective retirees of Treasury-funded Federal

Government MDAs. Accordingly, the online Enrolment Application would go live on 1

st September, 2021.

1. Who is eligible for the 2021 Verification and Enrolment exercise?

 The following groups of people are eligible for the Online Verification and Enrolment Exercise from 1

st September,

2021.

i. Employees of Federal Government treasury-funded MDAs who retired between January and August 2021

ii. Employees of Federal Government treasury-funded MDAs who are due to retire from September 2021

iii. Employees of Federal Government treasury-funded MDAs who missed the enrolment exercises in previous years

2. Options for Enrolment

 The two enrolment options are as follows:

i. Self-Assisted

 Retirees/prospective retirees for the year 2021 are required to visit PenCom’s website www.pencom.gov.ng to initiate

the online enrolment process. This is done by registering and capturing their employment details as well as uploading

scanned copies of the required documents before proceeding to their respective Pension Fund Administrator (PFA)

for physical verification and enrolment.

The step by step procedure for the Online Enrolment would be hosted on the PenCom website.

ii. Pension Desk Officer (PDO)/PFA-Assisted

 Retirees/prospective retirees who are unable to complete the online registration for any reason could approach the

PDO of their respective MDAs or visit their for assistance.

 Please note that Verification and Enrolment by all concerned must be completed with their respective PFAs by 29th

October 2021
