Excitement as IPMAN calls of strike
From CHUKS EZE, Enugu
The strike issued by the national leadership of Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), has been suspended.
A statement signed by the National President of the union, Alhaji Sanusi Fari and sent to The Oracle Today, has also directed members to resume operation immediately.
Fari said suspension of the service withdrawal followed high-powered interventions.
According to the statement: “As a result of the intervention of higher authorities in the unwarranted and unprovoked invasion of our Secretariat at Enugu depot, the NEC of Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has called off our strike actions in the affected states of Enugu, Ebonyi and Anambra to allow for fruitful discussions.
“Members are directed to resume operations immediately”.
The statement thanked the affected citizens for their “perseverance, cooperation and understanding”.
Recall that the IPMAN National leadership had commenced indefinite strike Friday, September 17, 2020, following alleged invasion of her Enugu secretariat by security operatives.
The Oracle Today had followed up the development and reported that the strike had caused acute scarcity of petrol (PMS) with the price instantly jerking up to between N500 to N700 per litre.
