Abia APC replaces deputy chairman, inaugurates LGA party chairmen
[From BONIFACE OKORO, Umuahia]
Abia chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has replaced its former Acting State Deputy Chairman, Chief Ogumka Adiele, just as it also inaugurated the newly elected chairmen of the party at the local government levels.
The erstwhile Acting Deputy Chairman, Ogumka Adiele, dumped APC for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) last week, prompting the party to swiftly replace him with Allwell Enwereji, also from the same Ukwa West local government area of the state.
Also inaugurated were the elected party chairmen who emerged during the recent local government Congress of the party.
Legal Adviser of Abia APC, Merenyechi Onuoha, explained that the new Acting Deputy Chairman was sworn in because nature abhors vaccum.
According to the Legal Adviser, Abia APC would not be distracted but would continue to wax stronger.
He said come 2023, APC would take over Abia and admonished party faithful to remain steadfast and work hard for APC victory at the polls in 2023.
He equally charged the newly inaugurated Chairmen to inject new blood and energy into the party’s drive to occupy Abia Government House.
He enjoined them to shun anti-party activities but build a solid grassroots base that would guarantee APC victory at the polls.
Responding after his inauguration, the new Acting Deputy Chairman, Enwereji, thanked the party hierarchy for choosing him and promised to work harmoniously with the Acting State Chairman, Chief Donatus Nwankpa, to lift the party to greater heights.
He promised to abide by the party’s statutes and discharge his mandate without fear or favour.
The Oracle Today reports that the swearing in of the local government party chairmen ended on a rowdy note as APC members from Aba North and Obingwa staged strong protests.
While Aba North party faithful protested the exclusion of the local government from the inauguration exercise despite explanations by party leaders that their case was being sorted out, Obingwa members insisted that there was no consensus on the chairmanship position in the area.
