Gov. Ikpeazu to swear in new commissioners, Tuesday
[From BONIFACE OKORO, Umuahia]
Abia State’s lean cabinet will swell by 27 new Commissioner-designates who are billed to be sworn-in by the Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, on Tuesday, October 26, 2021.
The event has been slated to hold at the Dr. Michael Okpara Auditorium in Umuahia by 2 p.m, after which the new Commissioners would proceed to the Executive Chambers of Government House, Umuahia, to join other members of the state Executive Council to attend the Council meeting scheduled for 3.30 p.m.
A statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Chris Ezem, announcing the inauguration of the Commissioner-designates Saturday night, enjoined the potential new Exco members to be seated with their invited guests before the arrival of the Governor.
The Commissioner-designates were appointed by the Governor on September 12, 2021. Ikpeazu had, in early January this year, dissolved his cabinet but retained just five Commissioners who he has been working with for the past nine months.
