50 cars, $1.4m cash, $2m in property, others, as EFCC lists full properties seized from Maina
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Monday, November 8, successfully ensured the prosecution and conviction of Abdulrasheed Maina, former chairman of the now-defunct Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT).
However, while a Federal High Court in Abuja sentenced Maina to eight years imprisonment over a N2.1billion pension scam, the EFCC has now published a full list properties recovered from the former pensions boss.
Maina had earlier pleaded not guilty to a 12-count charge of money laundering but Justice Okon Abang found the accused guilty.
Following the conviction, the anti-graft agency gave a close view into the crimes committed by the ex-pensions boss.
According to a statement by the EFCC, below is a list of properties and large sums uncovered while investigating Maina:
1, Property in Jabi, Abuja worth $1.4 million (paid in cash),
2, Luxurious mansion in Dubai,
3, Maina’s company – Northrich Company owned over 50 cars,
4, Colster Logistics, belonging to Maina received an inflow of over $400,000 from cash deposits,
5, Over N500 million was discovered in the account of Kangolo Dynamic, within the years Maina was chairman of PRTT. (The company has never carried out any service or contract),
6, Property worth $2 million in Jabi, Abuja,
7, Two accounts belonging to Maina hold cash deposits of N300 million, N500 million, and N1.5 billion,
8, Properties in the United Arab Emirates and the United States.
Having established his sentencing, the court ordered Maina and his firm – Common Input Property and Investment Limited to restitute about N2.1billion that was traced to their bank accounts, to the Federal Government.
The company would be dissolved thereafter.
