Group demands prosecution of two brothers for allegedly defiling 9yr-old girl in Enugu

WomenAid Collective (WACOL) has demanded the immediate prosecution of two biological brothers, Chima Nnamani, and Michael Nnamani, for defiling a minor in Enugu.
The group through it communication Officer, Egodi Igwe said the two brothers who hailed from Akpufu in Nkanu West Local Government of Enugu state defiled a 9-year-old girl.
The accused persons are said to be under graduates of University of Uyo in Akwa Ibom state.
They have been arrested for serially violating Miss “B” a 9-years-old relative living with them in Enugu State.
Their arrest followed a petition by WACOL to the Nigeria Police.
According to the group, the girl was brought to WACOL by Good Samaritans who disclosed that the girl complained of severe pains, and when they probed further, she confided in them about her ordeal in her Aunty’s house.
The group said, “On the 28th of November, 2021 , WACOL received a case of defilement of a nine years old girl by two brothers from the same biological parents, Chima Nnamani and Michael Nnamani from Akpufu, in Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State.
“The accused persons had been allegedly arrested for serially violating Miss “B” a 9 years old relative living with them in Enugu State.
“While narrating her ordeal in the hands of these perpetrators, the victim mentioned how this heinous act perpetrated against her body started immediately she arrived to live with them in their place of abode and had continued on daily basis especially in the morning hours.
“She stated that she often bled profusely afterwards, yet no one offered her any help or treatment.
“The victim added, that she had complained to her Aunty Mrs. Theresa Nnamani severally who happens to be her father’s step sister about the wicked act but she was rather remained adamant because these perpetrators were her biological sons.
“She added that her Aunty had even returned home unexpectedly in one of the fateful days and witnessed the incident where her sons were sexually abusing her yet she did nothing to end the sexual abuses,”
“Following the report, WACOL has petitioned the Nigerian Police (MTD) Garki Awkunanaw Enugu, which led to the arrest of Michaeal Nnamani and his brother Chima Nnamani who is a student of University of Uyo.
“As part of WACOL’ efforts to rid our society of all forms of Violence Against Women and Girls and in commemoration of this year’s 16 days of activism 2021.”
WACOL therefore urges the Nigerian Police to expedite action on the matter by charging the case to court as required under the Criminal Law of Enugu State and the Violence Against Persons Prohibition Law of Enugu State ( VAPPL), 2015.
It further urged the Nigerian Police Force to partner with this global efforts by remaining committed to the rules of engagement regarding the fight against crime particularly in area of ending Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG).
