‘My successor will determine future of our industries,’ says Gov. Ayade
[From ANIEKAN ANIEKAN, Calabar]
Cross River Governor, Professor Ben Ayade has disclosed that his successor will determine the future of state-owned industries.
The governor made this known in Calabar during a parley with some media stakeholders.
He said he does not want to be counted among those who sold government properties.
Professor Ayade added that he decided against privatization not because it is the right thing to do, but because it is politically correct.
“Government has no business being in business but because all things are not equal government has core business to do with business.
“Government now creates factories because no single individual has what it takes to run these factories but to push the government to now be the operator of these factories then you are asking for the death of the factories.
“We will work out a concession arrangement for the management of these factories but the choice of privatization will be left for my successor, not because it’s the right thing to do, but because it’s politically correct”, he said.
He stressed that with the number of industries set up in the state by his administration, the wheel of industrialization has kicked off in the state.
He said big dreams are what makes the difference but unfortunately it is very difficult for people to see the big dream of his administration.
He added that he is stronger, better equipped, more focused to finish strong and will not be influenced by the Exit Syndrome Theory.
He also promised that the Spaghetti Flyover Project in Calabar Municipality will be completed by March 2022.
