Ebonyi PDP Publicity Secretary reportedly slumps in court
Panic descended on the Magistrate Court 3 inside the Ebonyi Judiciary Headquarters Abakaliki , Wednesday, as the Publicity Secretary of the opposition, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Nwoba Chika Nwoba, reportedly slumped in court.
Nwoba is facing charges brought against him by the regional security outfit, Ebubeagu in the state bordering on spreading fake news on social media, a crime now punishable in Ebonyi State under the controversial cybercrimes law signed last year.
Nwoba who slumped around 3 pm when he was brought to the Magistrate Court 3, Wednesday, has been in police detention since Sunday, when he was handed over by operatives of the Ebubeagu Security outfit following his arrest.
The PDP in the State had claimed that he was beaten by Ebubeagu officials who arrested him before the Police rescued and placed him under arrest.
The Police had failed to arraign him on Tuesday despite bringing him to the court premises.
