Pwajok returns to head NAMA in acting capacity, as Capt. Akinkuotu bows out
Federal Government has appointed Mr. Mathew Lawrence Pwajok as the new Managing Director of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA). He replaces Capt. Fola Akinkuotu, whose tenure ended on January 7, 2021.
Pwajok was the former Director of Operations at NAMA.
The directive to oversee the agency is contained by a letter from the Ministry of Aviation, Human Resource Management FMA/ PS/ APPT/ CEO/014/1/23 and addressed to the Managing Director/ CEO of NAMA the agency titled, titled, “Appointment of Director to Oversee the Office of the Managing Director/ CEO” and signed by A.D Muhammad for the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika.
“I am directed to inform you that the honourable Minister has approved that Mr. Pwajok, Mathew Lawrence, Director of Operations oversee the Office of the Managing Director/ CEO pending the appointment of a substantive MD/CEO.
”You are to kindly accord the director all the necessary support and cooperation he needs while overseeing the office. While thanking you for your usual cooperation, please accept the esteem regards of the Minister,” the letter read.
Two other officers who were also appointed into NAMA are: Musa Mai-Salihu as Director, Human Resources Management and Hauwa Usara as Company Secretary.
Pwajok, the former Director of Operations retired from service in December, 2022, while Akinkuotu was appointed on January 2017.
Similarly, at the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) Mr. Chris Najomo was appointed as the Director Air Transport Regulation, Adamu Wakili as Director Human Resources Management, Mr. Ajiboye Isiaka as Director, Airworthiness Standards and Bahagio Agio as Director, Licensing and Training Standards.
At the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria(FAAN), Ali Maina is Director Engineering while Gold Iwinose is Company Secretary and Legal Adviser. All other directorates are retained by their previous Directors.
On the other hand, some in the agencies were redeployed to the Aviation Ministry as Special Assistants (SA’s) to the Aviation Minister, Senator Hadi Sirika.
