NGX: Access, Guinness SterlingBank most active to boost market turnover
Access, Guinness and SterlingBanK were the most active to boost market turnover as equities market closed on a flat note, with NGXASI recording 0.00% to close at 47,064.82 basis points as against -0.29% depreciation recorded previously. Its Year-to-Date (YTD) return currently stands at +10.18%.
Access Bank recorded the highest volume of 55.4 million traded shares, followed by Guinness Nigeria (16.7m), Japaul Gold and Ventures (14m) and Sterling Bank (13.3m). Guinness and Access topped market value list.
Market breadth closed positive as LearnAfrca led 28 Gainers as against 2i Losers topped by BERGER at the end of today’s session an improved performance when compared with previous outlook.
Market turnover closed negative as volume moved down by -18.88% as against +8.51% uptick recorded in the previous session.
At the end of today’s trading session on the NGX, a total of 274,206,976 shares in 5,331 deals, corresponding to a market value of NGN 3,817,097,540.96, were traded. Compared with the previous NGX trading day (Monday, February 14), today’s data shows 19% decline in volume, 33% decline in turnover, and 5% decline in deals. In the aggregate, 108 NGX equities participated in trading, ending with 28 gainers and 21 losers. Learn Africa led the gainers with 9.7% share price appreciation closing at NGN 1.81 per share, followed by Morison Industries (+9.55%), RT Briscoe (+9.52%) and Veritas Kapital Assurance (+9.52%). On the losing side, Berger Paints came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 9.58% at NGN 7.55 per share, followed by Consolidated Hallmark Insurance (-4.62%), Jaiz Bank (-4.29%) and International Breweries (-2.86%). Access Bank recorded the highest volume of 55.4 million traded shares, followed by Guinness Nigeria (16.7m), Japaul Gold and Ventures (14m) and Sterling Bank (13.3m).
Regarding the performance of NGX market indices, the benchmark NGX All-Share Index (ASI) pared 1.95 points to close at 47,064.82, representing a 1-week gain of 0.02%, a 4-week gain of 5.39%, and an overall year-to-date gain of 10.18%.
