NGX: Access , MTNN , Zenith Bank boost market turnover as ASI inches up by 0.09%
AccessBank , MTNN and ZenithBank were the most active to boost market turnover as equities market closed on a positive note, with NGXASI appreciating by 0.09% to close at 47,109.25 basis points as against 0.00% flat recorded previously. Its Year-to-Date (YTD) return currently stands at +10.28%.
Access Bank recorded the highest volume of 47.9 million traded shares, followed by MTN Nigeria (21.7m), Zenith Bank (17.3m) and United Bank for Africa (16.9m). MTNN and NB topped market value list.
Market breadth closed negative as LEARNAFRCA led 19 Gainers as against 29 Losers topped by REGALINS at the end of today’s session an unimproved performance when compared with previous outlook.
Market turnover closed positive as volume moved up by +16.07% as against -18.88% downtick recorded in the previous session.
At the end of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NGX), a total of 318,269,864 shares in 4,965 deals, corresponding to a market value of NGN 8,265,822,181.34, were traded. Compared with the previous NGX trading day (Tuesday, February 15), today’s data shows 16% improvement in volume, 117% improvement in turnover, but 7% decline in deals. The current market capitalization of the Nigerian Stock Exchange is NGN 25.4 trillion.
In the aggregate, 117 NGX equities participated in trading, ending with 19 gainers and 29 losers. Learn Africa led the gainers with 9.94% share price appreciation closing at NGN 1.99 per share, followed by SCOA Nigeria (+9.55%), RT Briscoe (+8.7%) and Veritas Kapital Assurance (+8.7%). On the losing side, UPDC came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 6.36% at NGN 1.03 per share, followed by Regency Alliance Insurance (-5.13%), C&I Leasing (-4.76%) and Prestige Assurance Company (-4.44%).
Regarding the performance of NGX market indices, the benchmark NGX All-Share Index (ASI) inched up 44.43 (0.09%) points to close at 47,109.25, representing a 1-week loss of 0.1%, a 4-week gain of 3.7%, and an overall year-to-date gain of 10.28%. Other remarkable indices that performed were the NGX Premium Index (-0.09%; +0.09% 1WK; +5.45% YTD), NGX Top 30 Index (-0.09%; +0.02% 1WK; +4.77% YTD), NGX Top 50 Index (-0.18%; -0.17% 1WK; +3.09% YTD), NGX Lotus Islamic Index (+0.02%; +0.45% 1WK; +1.15% YTD), NGX ASeM Index (+0%; -1.3% YTD), and NGX Oil & Gas Index (-0.04%; +0.78% 1WK; +22.85% YTD).
