Bodies of two Nnamdi Azikiwe University students found dead inside hostel room

Dead bodies of two students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University cohabiting as couple have been found inside a hostel room.
The incident occurred on Sunday 20th February, 2022 at about 5:15pm in a room at Student lodge in Awka.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the command DSP Ikenga Tochukwu on Monday, said the deceased must have been killed by generator fume.
The statement added that the Commissioner of Police CP Echeng Echeng had enlightened the general public especially Anambra citizens on the dangers of carbon monoxide.
CP Echeng said carbon monoxide was a dangerous substance that was very toxic to health, adding that substance when inhaled could cause serious damage to the body and could lead to death.
According to him, the substances mostly emanate from generators, water heaters, coal burning appliances or any gasoline powered engine.
The statement also disclosed that the CP has ordered a full scale comprehensive investigation into the discovery of two lifeless bodies (male and female) on Sunday 20th February, 2022 at about 5:15pm in a room at Student lodge in Awka.
“Preliminary investigation reveals fumes from the generator was strongly perceived from the room when the door was forcefully opened by police officers that responded to the distress call.
“The recovered bodies of the deceased have deposited to the morgue and no mark of violence was found on the bodies”, the statement added.
