Gunmen kill Ebonyi man, nine days to wedding

Middle-aged man, identified as, Mr Nnaemeka Chukwu from Enyibichiri Alike community, in the Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, has been assassinated, nine days to his wedding day in Abakaliki by unknown gunmen.
The deceased was killed in front of his shop after closing Monday night.
He deals on provisions within the Abakaliki city.
His wedding invitation card obtained by our Reporter revealed that the Traditional Wedding was to take place on April 21 at his fiancé’s father’s compound in Amaiyima Ekpelu, in Ikwo local government.
The White Wedding was slated for April 23 at Pastoral Centre, Mile 50 Abakaliki with a reception at the International Conference Centre, Abakaliki, the state capital.
The deceased was with his fiancé identified as Favour Chioma, when he was gunned down by the assassins.
A relative who spoke to our Correspondent, said: “He has a shop at International Market where he deals on provision goods. He owns another joint at Chukwuma Ofeke street, Ameke Aba.
“The incident according to the wife happened at about 9pm when they have closed shop and about to enter their vehicle.
“Some boys accosted them, first shot into the air, then ordered the guy to lie down and then shot him 3 times, collected the wife’s phone and left.”
The pre-wedding pictures with the fiancé have gone viral on social media following his death.
The Police spokesman in the State, DSP Loveth Odah said she was not aware of the incident.
She, however, promised to get back to Correspondent after contacting the Officer in-charge of the area.
She was yet to do so as of the time of filing this report.
