Excitement as work on Imo’s 305 healthcentres nears completion

Dilapidated infrastructure in primary and secondary schools in Imo State are to wear a new look soon as Governor Hope Uzodimma has directed that attention be shifted to them as work on the 305 health Centres in the State is almost completed.
The Governor gave the directive on Tuesday at an interactive meeting he had with traditional rulers, Chairmen of local government areas and other stakeholders from the State at the government house Owerri.
Governor Uzodimma said the essence of the interactive session was to acquaint the stakeholders with progress report on the government’s grassroots development initiatives, like the rehabilitation of the 305 healthcare centres projects across the 305 wards in the State.
The Governor said the report presented to him earlier by the Executive Secretary of the Imo State Healthcare Development Agency (ISPHCDA), Rev. Sr. (Dr.) Maria-Joannes Uzoma, indicated that work has been completed on 240 health care centres.
Governor Uzodimma who commended the efforts made by all involved in the projects “considering the fact that these projects were embarked upon late last year,” encouraged the technical team to “fasttrack the remaining 65 centres and bring the chapter to a glorious end.”
He however used the opportunity to announce immediate commencement of work on the dilapidated infrastructure at the primary and secondary schools across the State, adding that, “in no distant time, we will roll out modalities for their reconstruction and otherwise.”
His words: “We aim at developing the rural areas alongside the urban cities and by the collaborative efforts of the communities, we will deliver on this.”
