PDP Primaries: Ugwuanyi, Nnamani win Senatorial tickets, as Oyo results out

Incumbent Governor of Enugu State, Mr Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and his predecessor, Chimaroke Nnamani have won the Senatorial tickets of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Enugu North and Enugu East, respectively.

Our correspondent reports that Ugwuanyi garnered 299 votes out of 316 votes cast during the Primary election which was conducted at Nsukka by the PDP National Election Committee.

The primary election committee was chaired by Mr. Attahiru Ochie and monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Ugwuanyi’s Opponent, Godwin Eze, scored 16 votes, while Celestine Okanya and Godsmack Ugwu got zero vote.

It was reported that incumbent Senator from the zone, Chukwuka Utazi did not purchase form for the primary election as he had earlier announced that he won’t seek re-election as a mark of honour for Governor Ugwuanyi.

 Also in Enugu East, it was gathered, that all the valid votes cast at the election went to the former Governor, who is currently representing the zone.

The result of the primary election which was announced by the chairman of the PDP Election Committee, Mr. Chinedu Onuh stated that a total of 243 delegates took part in the primary election.

Meanwhile, Oyo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has conducted its primary elections to present candidates for 3 senatorial districts and 14 House of Representatives seats for Oyo State come 2023 general elections.
