Makinde secures PDP ticket in Oyo
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has secured the mandate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to contest the 2023 gubernatorial elections in the state.
Makinde was declared winner in the PDP governorship primary election in the State after polling 1,040 votes to defeat his challenger, Azeem Gbolarumi, who scored two votes.
The returning officer, Abdulahi Maibasira, declared Seyi Makinde the winner of the contest having scored the highest number of valid votes cast.
Makinde, while reacting to his victory, said he was overwhelmed by the support of the people while calling on them to support him to win the governorship poll in 2023.
In a related development, Senator Dino Melaye was on Tuesday evening was defeated by his political rival, Honourable Tajudeen Yusuf, who polled 163 votes to clinch the ticket of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, for Kogi West Senatorial district.
Dino failed to secure his reelection when he polled 99 votes against TJ Yusuf who is currently representing Kabba/Bunu Ijumu Federal constituency.
