Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has donated academic materials to the Special Education Centre Primary and Secondary School, Calabar.
The academic materials donated by the agency included computers, whiteboard, school bags, text books and note books, pens, crayons, socks and other items.
Dr. Bashir Jamoh, DG of NIMASA disclosed that he would be fulfilled if children with special needs improved academically.
The DG who was represented by Alhaji Dauda Babah from the Calabar office said the effort of staff of such a school of children with special need cannot be paid for cash.
“Today we are recognising a school with special need, it is important to note that what the staff of this school is doing cannot be paid for in cash as it was a huge sacrifice.
“If we succeed in helping to ensure that some students improve academically we would have made a difference and will be fulfilled.
“We appeal that the materials donated be used judiciously to give the children the best.
“Also I wish to let the management of the school know that we are open to support the school whenever our assistance is needed,” he maintained.
Princewill Ayim, DG of Cross River SEMA, thanked NIMASA for their continuous support of the state in different sectors.
Ayim assured NIMASA that the materials would be equitably distributed among students of the school and other schools in the state.
Catherine Enya, principal of the school thanked NIMASA for its kind gesture.
Education which is the bedrock of any society, she added, should not be for normal children alone but for children with special needs too.
