Savannah’s Accugas boosts supply to Sahara’s power plants
Savannah Energy PLC has announced commencement of gas sales to Trans Amadi power plant operated by First Independent Power limited in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State.
Savannah’s local business unit, Accugas Limited, will under a new deal increase gas supply to FIPL by 30 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (MMscf) to 65 MMscf/d.
Savannah Energy PLC is a British independent energy company focused on Afrrican business opportunities. It acquired controlling 80 percent stake in local gas supplier, Accugas.
Savannah had in April executed an addendum to its gas sales agreement with FIPL, allowing FIPL to increase the quantity of gas purchased to up to 65 MMscf/d from 35 MMscf/d to allow supply to both its Trans Amadi, Eleme, and Afam power plants.
FIPL is an affiliate company of the Sahara Group, a leading international energy and infrastructure conglomerate with operations in over 42 countries across Africa, the Middle East, Europe and Asia.
The FIPL Trans Amadi power plant has a power generation capacity of 136 MW but its generation capacity had recently been limited due to gas availability issues from its primary supplier.
Savannah commenced gas supply to the Trans Amadi power plant on 19 June 2022, which has allowed for the immediate resumption of power generation and evacuation to Nigeria’s National Grid.
