2022 WAFCON: Super Falcons set to face hosts Morocco, on Monday
Nigeria’s female national team, the Super Falcons will Monday, face hosts, the Atlas Lionesses of Morocco in the one of the semi final matches of the ongoing 2022 Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) holding in the North African country.
The played scheduled for the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat is a crucial decider for the Super Falcons en route their quest to retaining the WAFCON title, won at its last edition.
The Super Falcons are targeting a 10th WAFCON title, having already secured a ticket to next year’s FIFA Women World Cup in Australia/New Zealand.
Members of the Super Falcons team on Sunday had a feel of the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat ahead of Monday’s dicey match.
The Nigerian national female team pipped rivals, the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon in Casablanca by 1-0 via second half strike by Rasheedat Ajibade at the quarter final stage, played at the Stade Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca, Morocco, Thursday evening,
Ajibade’s header in the 56th minute was all that separated the Super Falcons from the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon in a hard-fought, physical encounter.
The gritty encounter was settled when striker Ifeoma Onumonu’s cross from the right flank was headed into the Cameroonian net by Ajibade, who has now scored two goals in the four matches played by the Super Falcons so far in this competition.
In the other semi-final clash, Zambia will play South Africa, in Rabat.
