NGX: Investors record N73.26bn gain as ASI appreciate by 0.28%
Nigerian Equities Market closed positive as the key market indicator advanced by 134.50 bps amid positive market breadth
The NGX All-Share Index advanced by 0.28% to close at 48,988.04 basis points as against a 0.09% loss recorded previously to close at 48,853.54 basis points at the end of the last trading session. In Naira terms, the NGX Market CAP records a N73.26bn gain.
At the end of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NGX), a total of 88,039,186 shares in 2,832 deals, corresponding to a market value of NGN 1,675,516,329.24, were traded.
Compared with the previous NGX trading day (Tuesday, December 13), today’s data shows 46% decline in volume, 57% decline in turnover, and 14% decline in deals. The current market capitalization of the Nigerian Stock Exchange is NGN 26.7 trillion.
In the aggregate, 99 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 16 gainers and 12 losers. Red Star Express led the gainers with 9.71% share price appreciation closing at NGN 2.26 per share, followed by Chams (+9.52%), SCOA Nigeria (+8.97%) and Learn Africa (+8.84%).
On the losing side, Prestige Assurance Company came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 8.7% at NGN 0.42 per share, followed by Multiverse Mining & Exploration (-8.51%), Linkage Assurance (-6.98%) and Eterna (-5.75%). Guaranty Trust Holding recorded the highest volume of 10.2 million traded shares, followed by Zenith Bank (9.79m), Jaiz Bank (7.91m) and Sterling Bank (5.17m).
Regarding the performance of NGX market indices, the benchmark NGX All-Share Index (ASI) climbed 134.50 (0.28%) points to close at 48,988.04, representing a 1-week gain of 1.16%, a 4-week gain of 11.22%, and an overall year-to-date gain of 14.68%.
Other remarkable indices that performed were the NGX Top 30 Index (+0.33%; +1.3% 1WK; +2.9% YTD), NGX Top 50 Index (-0.11%; +0.77% 1WK; -3.52% YTD), NGX Industrial Index (+1.46%; +8.97% 1WK; +19.3% YTD), NGX Main Board Index (+0.5%; +3.44% 1WK; +24.95% YTD), NGX Premium Index (-0.03%; -1.77% 1WK; +10.97% YTD), and NGX Banking Index (-0.07%; +2.24% 1WK; +0.29% YTD).
