Police confirm no casualty in fire incident at Kano HQ
Kano State Command of the Nigeria Police says the fire incident that engulfed its state headquarters in Bompai has been brought under control with no casualty.
Spokesperson of the command, SP, Haruna Kiyawa in a statement noted that the fire was brought under control by men of the state fire service.
“No life was lost and no injury was recorded. The fire was brought under control by firefighters,” he said.
According to him, the fire incident engulfed the Administrative Block located on the first floor of the Kano State Police Command’s Headquarters, Bompai.
“Offices razed by the inferno in the administrative block include: Provost Office, DC Finance and Admin Office, AC Admin Office, AC Operations Office, Finance Offices and PPRO’s Office among others,” he noted.
He said the Command’s records as well as the commissioner of Police’s office are intact as the fire was put under control before torching those areas.
He also disclosed that the Deputy Governor of the state, Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna has visited the scene, as well as sympathise with the police, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr Usman Alkali Baba, the AIG Zone 1 and on behalf of Kano State Government, even as he promised to assist in the reconstruction of the burnt blocks.
“The Deputy Governor was received at the scene by the state commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Dauda, psc(+) and officers and men of Kano Police Command,” he said.
