NGX: Investors records N83.51bn gain as ASI appreciates marginally by 0.29%
Equities Market closed positive as the key market indicator advanced by 151.31 bps amid positive market breadth.
The NGX All-Share Index advanced by 0.29% to close at 52,752.96 basis points as against a 0.02% loss recorded previously to close at 52,599.65 basis points at the end of the last trading session. In Naira terms, the NGX Market CAP records a N83.51bn gain.
At the end of today’s trading session, a total of 139,681,557 shares in 3,549 deals, corresponding to a market value of NGN 2,021,618,394.53, were traded. Compared with the previous NGX trading day (Wednesday, January 25), today’s data shows 17% improvement in volume but 25% decline in turnover. The current market capitalization of the Nigerian Stock Exchange is NGN 28.7 trillion.
In the aggregate, 112 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 25 gainers and seven losers. Geregu Power led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 147.40 per share, followed by Wapic Insurance (+9.76%), Chellarams (+9.7%) and International Energy Insurance (+9.43%).
On the losing side, RT Briscoe came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 9.09% at NGN 0.30 per share, followed by Royal Exchange (-8.24%), Courteville Business Solutions (-7.84%) and Linkage Assurance (-4%). Guaranty Trust Holding recorded the highest volume of 17.8 million traded shares, followed by Access Holdings (15.4m), Fidelity Bank (11.9m) and Mutual Benefits Assurance (6.85m).
Regarding the performance of NGX market indices, the benchmark NGX All-Share Index (ASI) climbed 153.31 (0.29%) points to close at 52,752.96, representing a 1-week gain of 0.24%, a 4-week gain of 5.64%, and an overall year-to-date gain of 2.93%.
