Umahi calls for patience over naira swap policy

Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State has called for patience with the Federal Government over the implementation of new naira notes swap policy in the Country.
Umahi made the call on Sunday during a Church Service marking the successful end of All Progressives Congress (APC) Local Government Rallies in the State.
The Governor noted that the naira redesign policy was put in place to rejig the economy and bring sanity to Nigeria’s economy
“I want you to have confidence in God and Mr. President that the issue will be sorted out soon.”
Also at the church service, Umahi announced that his administration would embark on empowerment of Ebonyians in Abuja, Lagos, Anambra and other big cities in the coming weeks.
“From Tuesday, we will like to empower a number of our people, times are quite hard and this is the time I will show you that I am not just the infrastructure Governor but also the Compassionate Governor.”
On the forthcoming general elections, Governor Umahi assured he will continue to give political parties level playing field but appealed to Candidates to always play by the rules.
“No soul would be lost in Ebonyi State, no gun will be shot in Ebonyi State. I am appealing to the Candidates, be wise, life is spiritual, victory can only come from God.
“Somebody is saying that there will be no election and all that, we are planning that there will be elections and no soul would be lost.”
He appealed to Local Government Chairmen and relevant Stakeholders to continue to provide platforms for peaceful electioneering for the peace and stability of the State.
“When they want to do rallies please allow them, I am the Father of the State and no one sets fire on his house.
“It has become necessary that we do everything possible to ensure that people come out and vote, we will make sure that anyone who wants to vote will freely vote in Ebonyi State,” he said.
Governor Umahi also appealed to the handlers of the Ebubeagu Security outfit to step up efforts to retrain the personnel to deliver unblemished service to the State.
“I want to plead with the handlers of Ebubeagu, please let us work within the confines of the Law, I will like the handlers of Ebubeagu to please ensure things are done correctly because any wrong doing, they will say it is the Government and Ebubeagu.”
The Governor also announced the commencement of a weeklong fasting and prayer for violence-free elections and comprehensive victory for APC on Monday at the Government House Chapel and across the 13 Local Government Areas of the State.
“Every time God is waiting to be challenged. In 2015 we were challenged and we called on the name of God and he gave us victory, this time around, we shall pray again that God gives us 100 percent victory,” he concluded.
