From Aniekan Aniekan, Calabar
The Cross River State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have pledged to work together with Brian Odey, the candidate of the Labour Party in Yala One Constituency.
The state chairman of the APC Alphonsus Eba disclosed this in Calabar during a joint briefing with the Labour Party candidate.
Alphonsus Eba said his party decided to team up with the labour party in Yala One State constituency because they share with the APC’s policy of equity, justice and fairplay.
He also disclosed that they needed to balance the political equilibrium in the Yala One as the APC has no candidate for the election in the state constituency.
“The Labour Party put up a fight that aligns with our policy of equity, justice and fair play.
“We share a common belief with the Labour Party and we are happy that leaders of the party are all proponents of zoning.
“We needed to balance the political equilibrium in Yala One and have endorsed the candidate of the Labour Party ,Brian Odey as the representative of Yala One.
“We will join hands with other opposition parties outside the PDP to support the candidate of the Labour Party”, he said.
On his part, Odey Brian, the Labour Party candidate in Yala One said he is happy to be endorsed and promised that his party will deliver Yala One.
He said the Labour Party gave Peter Obi the highest votes in the state and they are going to do it again in Yala One and the state.
Oracle Today reports that the Supreme Court had four weeks ago disqualified Rt. Hon. Regina Anyogo, the incumbent lawmaker and candidate of the APC for the Yala One Constituency.
The court held that the primaries that produced her was done outside the constituency in contravention of the Electoral Act.
The court also disqualified the APC from conducting another primary to select a candidate for the election.
