NGX: Investors record N35.67bn loss as ASI declines by 0.12%
Equities Market closed negative as the key market indicator declined by 65.47 bps amid negative market breadth.
The NGX All-Share Index declined by 0.12% to close at 55,722.90 basis points as against 0.01% loss recorded previously to close at 55,788.37 basis points at the end of the last trading session. In Naira terms, the NGX Market CAP records a N35.67bn loss.
At the end of today’s trading session, a total of 199,268,791 shares in 3,898 deals, corresponding to a market value of NGN 2,813,840,637.60, were traded.
Compared with the previous NGX trading day (Monday, March 13), today’s data shows 11% improvement in volume, 10% improvement in turnover, but 9% decline in deals. The current market capitalization of the Nigerian Stock Exchange is NGN 30.4 trillion.
In the aggregate, 110 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with nine gainers and 17 losers. Nigerian Enamelware led the gainers with 9.57% share price appreciation closing at NGN 17.75 per share, followed by FTN Cocoa Processors (+7.69%), Sterling Bank (+3.42%) and UAC of Nigeria (+3.26%).
On the losing side, Chams came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 8% at NGN 0.23 per share, followed by Prestige Assurance Company (-7.32%), Linkage Assurance (-6.82%) and UPDC (-6.8%). Sterling Bank recorded the highest volume of 31.1 million traded shares, followed by Neimeth International Pharma (20.2m), Zenith Bank (16.5m) and Chams (16.1m).
Regarding the performance of NGX market indices, the benchmark NGX All-Share Index (ASI) pared 65.47 (-0.12%) points to close at 55,722.90, representing a 1-week gain of 0.21%, a 4-week gain of 2.25%, and an overall year-to-date gain of 8.73%.
