NGX: Investors record N10.67bn gain as ASI appreciates by 0.04%
Equities Market closed negative as the key market indicator advanced by 19.59 bps amid positive market breadth.
The NGX All-Share Index advanced by 0.04% to close at 54915.61 basis points as against 1.04% loss recorded previously to close at 54915.61 basis points at the end of the last trading session. In Naira terms, the NGX Market CAP records a N10.67bn gain.
At the end of the last weekday of trading on, a total of 156,974,461 shares in 2,952 deals, corresponding to a market value of NGN 1,564,871,101.13, were traded. Compared with the previous NGX trading day (Thursday, March 16), today’s data shows 14% improvement in volume, 4% improvement in turnover, but 15% decline in deals. The current market capitalization of the Nigerian Stock Exchange is NGN 29.9 trillion.
In the aggregate, 104 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 17 gainers and 11 losers. United Capital led the gainers with 9.91% share price appreciation closing at NGN 12.20 per share, followed by Prestige Assurance Company (+9.76%), Royal Exchange (+7.46%) and Livestock Feeds (+6.86%). On the losing side, Multiverse Mining & Exploration came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 9.92% at NGN 3.45 per share, followed by Veritas Kapital Assurance (-4.76%), Chams (-4%) and Nigerian Breweries (-2.57%).
Capital Hotel recorded the highest volume of 36.4 million traded shares, followed by United Bank for Africa (17.9m), Access Holdings (14.7m) and Fidelity Bank (10.3m).
Regarding the performance of NGX market indices, the benchmark NGX All-Share Index (ASI) pared 0.22 points to close at 54,915.39, representing a 1-week loss of 1.58%, a 4-week gain of 2.06%, and an overall year-to-date gain of 7.15%.
