NJC releases list of 257 judges to hear petitions from 2023 General Elections

National Judicial Council (NJC) has released a list of 257 judges who will hear petitions arising from the 2023 General Elections.

This is just as the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (Court) and the State Election Petition Tribunals are expected to resume full operations in May, after the various public holidays.

The state appellant courts are also to serve as tribunals for the purposes of elections, while the Court of Appeal headquarters in Abuja will function as the Presidential Elections Petitions Tribunal sittings venue.

Though all winners of the elections have received their certificates of return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), however, hundreds of petitions have already been filed to challenge the results of the presidential, National Assembly, governorship, and state assembly elections.
