Tinubu writes Reps over confirmation of new service chiefs
President Bola Tinubu has formally written to the House of Representatives requesting a formal confirmation of the newly appointed Service Chiefs.
It would be recalled that President Tinubu appointed new service chiefs for the various arms of the Nigerian Armed Forces (NAF) on June 19, this year.
They include; Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Major General Christopher Musa, Chief of Army Staff (CAS), Major General Taoreed Lagbaja, Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Rear Admiral, Emmanuel Ogalla, and the Chief of Air Staff (COAS), and Air Vice Marshal, Hassan Abubakar.
All the service chiefs have since assumed duties.
However, their appointment was made while both chambers of the National Assembly were on Sallah vacation.
Tinubu’s request which was contained in a letter addressed to the Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abbas, was read at plenary, Thursday.
The President said that the request was in compliance with the provisions of Section 18(1) of the Armed Forces Act. Cap A20 Laws the Federation of Nigeria 2004.
