Kanu Nwankwo is Enyimba’s supervisor

Nigeria’s 1996 Olympic hero, Kanu Nwankwo, is now the Sole Administrator of Enyimba International Football Club, Aba, following his appointment by Governor Alex Otti as the Supervisor of the People’s Elephant.
Commissioner for Information and Culture, Prince Okey Kanu, made the official appointment of the Abia-born football Legend and a former Super Eagles Captain as Supervisor of the Aba side darling football club public in Umuahia on Monday, July 10, 2023.
The Commissioner disclosed about Kanu Nwankwo’s appointment at Government House, Umuahia, while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the Executive Council Meeting.
Prince Kanu noted that the appointment of Nwankwo, also known as Papilo, was aimed at strengthening the People’s Elephant to win more laurels for the state.
“We all know that Kanu Nwankwo is a football legend from this state and the Governor has thought it wise to bring him on board to supervise Enyimba Football club.
“The Club has recorded a lot of successes over the years. Mr Kanu Nwankwo coming on board is only to strengthen them (Enyimba FC) to win more laurels in the future,” the Commissioner said.
The famous lanky footballer was not only a star player of the Nigerian national team but also a former Captain of the Super Eagles. During his career, Kanu Nwankow also played for Dutch side, Ajax; Inter Milan of Italy and English Clubs such as Arsenal, West Bromwich Albion and Portsmouth.
The Abia Information boss also announced that the Governor Otti, during the EXCO meeting, approved the appointment of Pastor Nwankwo Dike as the State Director, National Orientation Agency (NOA); an effort which he said was aimed at addressing the disconnect between government and the citizens of the state.
