Ayade commences move to recover C’River North Senatorial seat

The former Cross River State governor, Prof Ben Ayade has commenced moves to recover the Cross River North Senatorial Ticket.
The former governor who was candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the senatorial elections lost the contest to the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe.
Prof Ayade disputed the outcome of the elections and filled a petition against it with suit number EPT/CR/SEN/02/2023.
During the day’s proceedings, Prof Ayade was represented by three Senior Advocates of Nigeria namely Prof Mike Ozekhome, Abeni Mohammed and Murtala Abdul -Rasheed.
The former governor is disputing the result in about 310 polling units in the Senatorial District and tendered documents from the polling units which were admitted by the court.
The legal team also submitted four schedules of documents which were also admitted by the court.
Some of the documents were objected to by Mba Ukweni, SAN, the lead counsel for Senator Jarigbe.
He however stated that his reasons for his objection will be stated in his final written addresses.
The three-man tribunal had Justice M.A. Sambo as chairman with Justice A.C. Akabua and Tijiani Jibrin Zololo as members.
