Lagos Assembly confirms 22 commissioner-nominees, drops Omotoso, 16 others

Lagos House of Assembly has concluded its screening of commissioner-nominees, dropping immediate past state commissioner for Information, Gbenga Omotoso, as well as, 16 others after the exercise which began, penultimate week.

Also included in the list of those dropped was the immediate past state commissioner for Health, Prof. Prof. Akin Abayomi.

The Assembly, however, confirmed 22 Commissioner-nominees from the total of 39 submitted to it by State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu on July 28.

Most of the nominees dropped included former commissioners who served in the first tenure of Mr Sanwo-Olu.

Speaker of the House, Mr Mudashiru Obasa had earlier set up a 12-man committee for the screening.

Chairman of the committee, Hon. Mojeed Fatai said, last week, that; “Twenty of the 39 nominees have so far been screened by the committee which began sitting on Sunday.’’

He added that the screening would be completed by Wednesday (today), being the deadline given it.
